IFC’s Sydney warehouse is at Leppington Business Park in the south-west growth corridor, sixteen kilometres from the airport that takes over Sydney’s overnight air freight on 1 November.
Sydney’s freight map is being redrawn, and Leppington is in the middle of it
On 26 July 2026, Western Sydney International’s cargo precinct opens for freight. The precinct is built to handle at least 220,000 tonnes a year and can work eight widebody aircraft at once.
The date that matters more is 1 November 2026. From then, the overnight freight flights currently permitted at Kingsford Smith stop, and move west. Sydney Airport has run under a legislated curfew since 1995. Western Sydney International does not. For air cargo, which lives on the late departure and the early arrival, that removes a constraint the industry has engineered around for thirty years.
IFC’s Sydney warehouse sits roughly 16 kilometres from it.
If you move time-sensitive air freight, the practical version is this: a shipment can land overnight at Western Sydney, be cleared by our customs team, travel 16 kilometres, and be in the racking before your competitors’ freight has left an apron on the other side of the city. A warehouse in Alexandria or Botany cannot say that, and cannot move to where we already are.
The road network
Leppington has direct access to the M7 and the M5, which are Sydney’s primary freight corridors. The M7 links the M2, M4 and M5 South West, and the M5 East runs through to Sydney Airport and Port Botany. Port Botany is roughly 43 kilometres away, and the M12 Motorway has recently opened alongside upgrades to the Northern Road.
For inbound containers, that means a box can move from the Port Botany terminal to the warehouse without crossing the CBD or the inner suburbs. For outbound, it supports delivery runs across Greater Sydney and connects to linehaul heading to Wollongong, the Central Coast, Newcastle and regional New South Wales.
A purpose-built estate
Leppington Business Park is a Stockland estate, built new and targeting a 5 Star Green Star Design and As-Built rating, with rooftop solar, intelligent LED lighting and rainwater harvesting. If your own reporting picks up the emissions profile of the warehouses you use, that is worth knowing before you sign.
