Kristy Salmon - Operations Supervisor (Import Operations)
Tell us about your role with IFC and how long you have been with the business.
I started working at IFC in 2008 in the Cartage department. I have spent most of my time working in that area and Import Operations at IFC.
What do you enjoy most about working at IFC?
I enjoy the opportunities that have come my way, working in different roles within IFC. I also like the fast-paced nature of the business and working alongside a great team, many of whom have also worked with IFC for many years.
What drew you to work in the supply chain industry?
There have always been many opportunities to learn new things within the industry. Different clients bring on various challenges, and it’s changed a lot over the years. I am still learning!
Tell us a little about your background and experience.
Like many before me, I fell into this industry. My first job was with another freight forwarder/ Customs broker, primarily focusing on Sea freight Operations and the Carriage side of the industry.
What are the biggest challenges and opportunities you’ve encountered in your experience working in the industry?
There are shorter deadlines to work within and higher fees. You must be organised; otherwise, things become costly very quickly!
How do you think IFC differentiates from competitors?
We have good company values and a strong focus on customer service. We always strive to meet our clients’ individual needs and requirements.
For aspiring professionals interested in a career in the supply chain industry, what advice would you give them to kickstart their journey?
Experience is invaluable; learning takes time, so be patient. And ask lots of questions!
What hobbies or interests do you enjoy pursuing in your free time?
I enjoy going to music concerts & live music, travel and time with my family & friends.
