Grant Jiang - Financial Controller
Tell us about your role with IFC and how long you have been with the business.
I am the Financial Controller of the company and I have been with IFC for 2.5 years.
What do you enjoy most about working at IFC?
It’s been an enjoyable journey for me as I have been getting great support from all levels in the company.
What drew you to work in the supply chain industry?
It’s a good story to tell: my father was a seaman and he introduced me to the boss of China Shipping Agency (allegedly a good pay check back then).
Tell us a little about your background and experience.
I had various roles in my first 10 years of career in shipping and forwarding industry. I started doing accounting in 2007 as Accounts Receivable and my previous employer gave me opportunities to learn and grow with the business.
In your experience working in the industry, what are the biggest challenges and opportunities you’ve come across so far?
It’s always a challenge to find the right person to work with. I have been able to train up existing IFC staff to streamline our workflow and produce positive results.
How do you think IFC differentiates from competitors?
Our industry has an average staff turnover of 3-5 years and it’s been lovely to work with dozens of staff who have been here for 10+ years.
For aspiring professionals interested in a career in the supply chain industry, what advice would you give them to kickstart their journey?
Loyalty to the employer and proper training and mentorship will make you shine.
What are your hobbies or favourite interests that you enjoy pursuing in your free time?
Learning/updating knowledge on how to better manage money and watching some TV dramas.
