GREEK CUSTOMS TERMPORARILY SUSPENDING CLEARANCE OPERATIONS

Please be advised that from Friday November 29th 2013 in the evening, Greek Customs suspended their usual operations as their prepared to switchover from their manual/semi-electronic to full electronic operations. Although intention was to resume normal operations under the new system by Monday December 2nd 2013, this was not been possible due to technical reasons. Furthermore, temporary return to the old system is impasse. Considering problems of new system application continue, customs clearance operations are still not performed up to today. It is debatable whether Customs will resume normal operations tomorrow, whilst further delay(s) or drawback(s) are possible in the coming days depending on when the new system will be activated and run ongoing.

This situation applies to all Customs Offices throughout Greece, in all ports, airports, railheads, cargo terminals and bonded warehouses. Backlog is building up and cargo throughput is delayed and storage costs increase.
