Effective 1 July 2014
A key element of the creation of additional container capacity within the Port of Melbourne is the construction of a new international container terminal at Webb Dock East.
To facilitate this construction work, the Port of Melbourne Corporation will close berths 3, 4 & 5 at Webb Dock East effective 1 July, 2014.
From this date until completion of works, the wharves at 3,4 & 5 Webb Dock East will be under the control of the Corporation’s appointed maritime works contractor, McConnell Dowell, who will upgrade and modify the wharves to accommodate the needs of ships docking at the port’s new international container terminal.
Should McConnell Dowell seek to use the above berths for delivery of project materials it will be required to seek the necessary exemptions and approvals from the Harbour Master along with any other applicable statutory approvals.
Please note that this is an advisory notice only, and the date, time and other details in relation to the formal closure of the berths at Webb Dock East will be declared by the Harbour Master in due course. Shipping lines and Agents should liaise directly with the Terminal Operator in the lead up to the formal closure of the berths.
